The PLX instruction set architecture, with the addition of such features as subword parallelism, subword permutation, and subword predication, is supposed to be optimized for multimedia applications. I would like to discern what are the main kernels of code which encompass the major functions of today¡¯s most popular video games and then apply that code to the PLX ISA. Then I would like to compare the performance of the PLX ISA to the current standards (MIPS/etc).
