The CoDeeN content distribution network currently is operational and serving up millions of page requests daily. While the system improves response times and lessens the dangers of overloading popular web pages, there exists a bottleneck which is preventing the system from acheiving its full potential. Because Doman Name Server (DNS) lookups do not take advantage of the distributed nature of CoDeen, there is a need for a distributed DNS overlay, currently known as CoDNS. My project will adapt existing name server code to run on a local machine and translate ordinary requests for name lookups into requests to the distributed name system.
